Winter 2023/2024
The Youth are very active. We meet weekly and throughout the year enjoy a variety of fun activities: going to Gretna Glen camp every month, playing lots of Gaga Ball, sardines, and just goofing off. We also have an an annual tradition of attending a powerful winter retreat each year--sometimes at Ocean City, MD with the Peninsula Delaware Conference Youth Rally or at Gretna Glen.
The youth ministry is open to everyone in 5th -12th grade. We have about 20 students involved--and about 6-8 students at each event. The youth come from Faith, Emmanuel, Long Memorial, Oregon Community, Salem: Rothsville, and Leola UMC, several other local churches, plus their friends and family. We have students from 5 or 6 different school districts and private schools. So, if it has been a while since you have been with us for youth activities, I encourage you to come and check out the new energy surrounding this ministry!
Sunday Nights Youth Group begins at 5pm at Faith UMC.
We normally have a large group game or sports, dinner, and then a lesson—and of course lots of fun and laughter. We have a game room with foosball and a pool table. We spend time studying the Bible and discussing how it applies to our lives. You won't want to miss a lesson. Join together with youth from several United Methodist Churches for fun, fellowship, and learning.
Gretna Glen Camp Youth Night: On the 3rd Sunday of each month we go to Gretna Glen Camp. We meet at 3:30PM at Faith UMC and return there by 7pm. Next trip to Gretna will be January 21, 2024 due to the holidays.
Youth Winter Blast Retreat at Gretna Glen Camp: Meet at Faith UMC at 6pm on Friday, Feb 2. Return to Faith UMC by Noon on Feb 4.
On Feb. 2-4, 2024 the Youth will go to Gretna Glen for the Winter Blast Youth Retreat. Please sign up by the Youth Bulletin Board. Faith UMC Permission Slips are needed.
We will meet at Faith UMC at 6pm on Friday, Feb 2. We will be back at Faith UMC by Noon on Feb 4.
Cost is $120, but $60 will be covered from Youth Fundraisers. $30 is due when you sign up and $30 is due by January 15, 2024.
Youth should register at https://gretnaglen.org/event/18459814-2024-02-02-youth-winter-blast/. You will fill in information about the youth and complete permission slips and health forms. Mark on the Camper Information Form that “yes, a church or agency is paying a portion of my registration fees.” Then they can type is $120 as the amount the church is paying. When they get to the Payment Option section, they can choose “pay by check.” This option will allow them to submit their registrations without paying. Faith UMC will submit one check for the full amount to the camp. Families will pay $60 to Faith UMC before the retreat, and the other $60 will come from the Youth Group fundraisers.

Pastor Jason will chaperone the trip for our group and stay overnight chaperoning the boy's cabin. The girl's cabin will be chaperoned by another staff member or volunteer leader who has been vetted by the camp for their clearances.
Young Adults Winter Retreat:
On Feb. 23-25, 2024 the Young Adults (HS Grad-30 years old) will go to Gretna Glen for the Winter Retreat. Cost is $120, but scholarships are available from the camp. Register directly through the camp. Info is available at: https://gretnaglen.org/event/18460122-2024-02-23-young-adult-retreat/
Permission Slips are needed for all off-site trips, include Gretna Glen--and can be downloaded from the Youth Section of our Website.
