Worship & Bible Studies at Faith
The community at Faith is a growing and creative community. Our worship services are grounded in scripture and focused on transforming lives. Many generations worship together at Faith and so we celebrate a blended service that is rooted in tradition but open to new ideas.
As Christians, we follow a God who said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them.” Thus, our worship services feature a children’s gathering at the altar, as well as nursery care in a room next to the sanctuary--with a window into the sanctuary.
Join us at 10:30am for worship, or come at 9:00am and join us for Sunday School. See below for times and locations.
Our worship starts at 10:30am every Sunday, and lasts until about 11:45am. It is a blended service featuring more contemporary praise songs as well as hymns every week. We have some traditional elements including prayer, creeds, and liturgies--and communion on the first Sunday of the month. However, the preaching is more contemporary and has a style focused on teaching and interaction with the congregation.
As far as a "dress code," there is none. Come as you feel comfortable. Some people are in suits, others are in shorts, and the pastor is usually in jeans. We care more about getting to know you and meeting your needs than about how you look.
Church is about getting to come into the presence of God and experiencing the love of Jesus the savior. And it is about doing so in community with other people who have some of the same struggles and hopes as you. We invite you to join us and pray that you will find the experience uplifting and meaningful.
Sermon Series: February 18 through Easter will be our Lenten Sermon Series.
Holy Week Schedule:
Easter Services on April 1:
It would be excellent if every member of the congregation was involved in at least one Bible Study during the week. Please choose one study to attend each week, and bring a friend to join you. We have several opportunities:
Intergenerational Sunday Night Lenten Bible Study --rotating between Faith and Long Memorial UMC at 6:00PM -- Everyone is invited--children through adults
We will meet at Long Memorial UMC (2660 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601) on Feb. 18, Mar. 4, and Mar. 18 in the Library Classroom on the main floor
We will meet at Faith UMC (1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, PA 17543) on Feb. 25, Mar. 11, and Mar. 25 in the Fellowship Hall
The Lenten Bible Study (produced by Hopewell UMC) After 40: Ready for Action is about how the 40 Days of Lent prepare us for action and ministry just like periods of 40 days/years prepared God's people in the Bible. This is a chance to deeply explore your faith—and how it impacts the rest of your life. We would love to have you join us.
A light meal will be provided each week (you may sign up to help provide a meal as part of a team for one of the weeks). We will eat together and then share in the Bible Study (please bring your Bibles). All ages are invited to join together in this. There will not be separate childcare, but we will enjoy this as a family style event. The youth group will NOT be meeting separately, but will meet for this Bible Study instead of their normal youth group activities. Please email Pastor Sharon at Pastorlongmemorialumc@gmail
